Made for Good Moments

No noise pollution

We sit in the quietest part of the boardwalk, away from the bar scene and downtown traffic. At Oceanic, nights move at the pace of the sea: the sound of the waves, the breeze and the nature that goes with true rest.

Cabins with their own character

Every space was designed to feel like a retreat: independent entrance, private garden and a balcony that many guests call their favorite spot of the day. A simple, welcoming space to disconnect, read, take in the view, or simply let the hours pass.

Just 30 meters from the shore, the ocean is part of every moment. It's the first thing you see when you wake and the last thing before you sleep. From the property you can walk straight to the beach — perfect for a sunset stroll with your feet in the water.

Puerto López from above
A setting that transforms from the very first moment

Oceanic is a holistic retreat where nature becomes part of the experience.

Holistic isn't a trend or a marketing label. It's the experience of a place where the Pacific Ocean, tropical rainforest, and the natural rhythm of the environment create the ideal conditions to disconnect from everyday distractions and reconnect with yourself. Here, the setting doesn't simply host the retreat—it becomes an essential part of it.

Before the first session begins, something has already shifted. The sound of the waves, the ocean breeze, and the calm surroundings naturally slow the mind and deepen the breath. By the time the experience starts, the body has already begun its own transformation.

Natural setting Sea, tropical gardens and real silence as part of the program.
Body present Pool, open air and deep rest between each activity.
Mindful eating Manabí cuisine with vegetarian options and group adjustments.
Unhurried time Flexible schedules. The retreat leads, we adapt.

Humpback whales during a whale-watching tour in Puerto López, Manabí, Ecuador

Whale watching in Puerto López

Every year, between June and September, humpback whales arrive from Antarctica to mate and give birth in the warm waters off Puerto López. Watching tours leave from the pier, a few minutes' walk from the lodge, on boats that get close enough to see them breach and slap the water with their tails. For many guests it's the main reason for the trip.

Blue-footed boobies on Isla de la Plata, Ecuador

Isla de la Plata – Machalilla National Park

They call it "the poor man's Galápagos" because without traveling 1,000 km offshore you can walk among blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds and albatrosses. The boat crossing takes about an hour and a half from Puerto López and includes snorkeling in clear waters where sea turtles are commonly seen. A full-day excursion, ideal for those wanting something more adventurous than the beach.

Los Frailes Beach inside Machalilla National Park, Ecuador

Los Frailes Beach in Manabí

White sand, turquoise water and not a single food stall or umbrella in sight: Los Frailes is protected inside Machalilla National Park, so it stays pristine. It's reached by a trail through cliffs and tropical dry forest with an ocean lookout, about 15 minutes by car from the lodge. Worth going early, before the midday tours arrive.

Sulfur lagoon at Agua Blanca and archaeological site in Manabí, Ecuador

Agua Blanca and Manteña culture

A local community manages this site where the Manteña culture lived more than 700 years ago. The archaeological museum holds original pieces found in the area, and just steps away is a milky-white sulfur lagoon you can swim in; many say the mud is good for the skin. A different kind of morning, part history, part nature, 10 km from the lodge.

Artisanal fishing at the Puerto López pier, Manabí, Ecuador

Artisanal fishing

Every morning, bright and early, Puerto López fishermen return to shore with the day's catch and sell it straight from their brightly painted boats. It's a tradition going back generations that you can watch by walking along the pier a few steps from the lodge: the fish auction, gulls fighting over scraps, the town waking up. Authentic, with nothing staged for tourists.

Fisherman's Monument on the Puerto López boardwalk, Manabí, Ecuador

Downtown boardwalk

A 10-minute walk from the lodge takes you to the heart of Puerto López: the Fisherman's Monument, handmade craft stalls made of seeds, tagua and shells, and the tourist pier where boats leave for Isla de la Plata. At sunset it fills with people strolling, street vendors, and the best light to watch the sun sink into the Pacific.
